What kind of plugs are you running? Exact model number...
I was thinking the same thing.

Are you getting a good burn? Hotter plugs, narrowing the gap, increasing spark, advancing timing, running higher octane gas, etc. just to get it through inspection.

Has anyone else heard of this condition?
I guess anything is poss. but more likely than not, of the 02 sensor is notm functioning correctly or at all, it is going to let the operator know by way of CEL. We're talking sensors here which is more of a software than a hardware.

I'm also thinking of running "guaranteed to pass smog", the fuel additive. I have never used race fuel, I just run 91 octane. I'm out of ideas. So ANY help is appreciated. Thanx
I do not think the cat needs to be broken in. Once it gets nice and hot it should be ready to go. When my car failed at 79k it was at the dealership for about a week. They were doing everything they poss. could to get it to pass, short of giving me a new cat. Well eventually they slapped on a new cat and it passed w/flying colors that day.

So I guess an LS/VTEC is capable of passing smog. Except for the visual here in CA. Do they have visual in CT?

anyone?

I just checked my oil and it was below the low level indicator dot... wtf I had it at middle a month ago :noes: and I havent even been vtec-ing that much... Crap I hope I'm not burning that oil because of some bad seals... And to think about it, I never touched my piston rings the whole bottom end has 60k on it... Could the low level of oil affect emissions??

Default California smog numbers. 94-95 OBD1 B18C1 DOHC Integra GSR motor

I'm posting this for those in California who have a 94-95 OBD1 B18C1 DOHC Integra GSR motor. For owners of other B series motors, this can serve as a rough guide. OBD2 motors should be stricter. Smog shops or repair shops are not legally allowed or often refuse to tell you the numbers. If you have one of these motors and need to pass smog, here are the maximum numbers:

15 MPH: HC < 89 PPM / CO% < 0.53 / NO < 708 PPM
25 MPH: HC < 54 PPM / CO% < 0.51 / NO < 746 PPM

You can always get a smog pretest to see where you are at if you are afraid of being officially dinged as a polluter. Let me remind that a fresh or recharged air filter, properly gapped and good condition plugs, proper ignition timing, and a fresh oil change will decrease your emissions. Also make sure that the catalytic converter is nice and hot before you have a test.

Regarding the visual checks, ya'll on your own on that one.

Ok about the air filter, how do I open up the stock intake box? I tried loosening the 3 screws it has, but they won't budge...

Don't use a screwdriver. Use a small socket.

Hang on, was this intended a reply to some other thread? h:

If so, I'd like to merge them. :run:

EDIT: A-ha... https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...d.php?t=259886

Sounds like a close-enough relation to me.
