Default secondaries

ok i was just thinking about this and everyone talks about how you feel the secondaries kicking in but what exactly are they? need some help

you don't feel the secondaries kicking in, you hear them open.

on the GSR intake manifold you have the longer runners which airflows thru into the engine from idle - 5800 RPMs. After 5800 RPMs the butterflies (or secondaries) open and the air flow is routed thru the secondaries which have a shorter distance to the intake ports than the the primaries.

whats the point though? would it be better to rig it so that they are open all the time?

i dunno shiet bout gs-rs, but this is what it says in service manual:

"two air intake paths are provided in the intake manifold to allow the selection of the intake path most favorable for a given engine speed. satisfactory power performance is achieved by closing and opening the intake air bypass control valves. high torque at low RPM is achieved when the valves are closed, whereas high power at high RPM is achieved by when [sic] the valves are opened."

valve opens at 5750 rpm and only come on the b18c1, by the way.
