Default opinion on these 2 snails?

Was talking to TheShodan on H-T about a turbo. Its exactly what im looking for. Needs to be a t3 flange, with a garrett 4 bolt (what my mani and DP are made for). I was originally going to get your average t3/t04e 57trim .63 OR .48 ar but could not decide. I wanted decent spool time and a good powerband hitting 250-300whp. I can get those turbos for $550-575 shipped.

TheShodan will build me a Gt3251 with Borg Warner housings, forget the specs on everything on, but full spool 4k and not crap out in the higher RPM. Also showed me a dyno of another LS running a very similar turbo to what he would build me making 253whp at 8psi with a 2.5'' exhaust and bad cat. The cost of that is $785 and another $100 if i want the housings coated.

Any opinions?

Cliff notes:
$550 for average t3/t4, little slower spool and higher PSI to make power
$785 for gt32 good spool, lower PSI, but $235 more expensive...$235 that can go towards my thermal 3'' exhaust

I think $785 is quite pricey, for that price I would expect that blower to satisfy me sexually. No disrespect to TheShodan because he knows his stuff and has good customer service from what I hear. I know for $655 you can get a Garrett GT3271 journal bearing turbo capable of 250-450hp (you would have to change your downpipe flange though). That's $655 for a brand name turbo versus $785 from someone who builds turbos god knows where.
(Again no disrespect)

Is your motor built?
Are you looking for a fun daily driver or a dyno/track monster?

If you want quick spool, spend a few hundred more than that 7xx and go ballbearing.

If your setup can't push a ball bearing turbo to 14psi then I wouldn't bother with it. You will not get the maximum capability from a ball bearing turbo on lower boost. Yes it will spool fast and take a beating but the full potential will not be noticed.

i just went ahead and bought a t3to4e 57trim .63 ar for $575 shipped. Talked to my tuner who talked me into getting the cheaper one for my first turbo build since im not looking for crazy power.
