Default kyb-gr2 struts suck!

I purchased some gr-2 struts for my teg about two months ago. I bought new springs to go with them, and I was doing maintenance on my rear(YEAH!) and I noticed one of my struts had exploded! WTF!? After only a couple of months. I'm going to send KYB an email explaining what's up and see what goes on from there! Anyone else have this problem?

I have had my GR-2's for over two years with no problems.

Installation error?

i'm going with schmoo in that it sounds like an installation error, what brand of springs did you match them with and how low did the car sit?

The shaft may have been burred which could have cut the seal. Do you recall fucking w/the cylinder prior to install? Did you at all place any kind of grip from a wrench on there to hold it still while you did something? My KYB 4-Ways have been in place now since 2001 and they are great. So 1 of 2 things. You either did something wrong when installing or KYB had a factory defect (it happens) which they will replace. Just act like you don't know what happened when asking for a replacement. Don't give any indication it may have been your fault which may cause them to void the warranty.

yeah, I installed them correctly. I put them on with a set of tenzo r springs. (1.5 drop) so I don't think it was my install problem. Maybe it is a factory defect. I installed them following every instruction provided by them. I checked all the other struts and they're ok. Oh well, I was planning on getting a set of fully adjustables (buddy club, tein, or other) anyway.
