anoying rattling/buzzing sound....

ya my '95 gsr makes this really anoying rattling/buzzing sound at 3k-3600 rpm. im thinking it might be the exhaust system vibrating against the other metal but im not sure cuz its only at 3k-3600 rpm. after that it sounds fine. if anyone has any comments or suggestions it would help

Could be a heat shield somewhere on the exhaust is loose.

when i first got my car it did the same thing. Turned out to be a piece of heat shield that had cracked and would vibrate at a certain rpm.

You have the bad A-pipe that is known on early GSR models. It could be a heat shield, but my money is a faulty A-pipe

I go with the dreaded heat shield problem. After I installed a new header the sound was gone. I also noticed a rattle when I set the stock header on the ground. Looking at it more closely, it was indeed a loose heatshield. It rattled at the simplest tap. I can't confirm for sure that was the problem for me but seems to make sense to me since I didn't see any cracks on the stock header.

It isn't that the manfold cracks, it is that the welds of the inside pipe that crack and cause the pipe to rattle against the outer piping.

k thanks thats what ive been hearing

This has to be the a-pipe and there is actually an easy fix to this. I had the same problem. The a-pipe is double walled and the inner pipe weld comes loose and causes the inner pipe to vibrate against the outer pipe at 3-3500rpm. The area to target to fix this is about an inch past the bend on the a-pipe. I had a muffler shop burn a hole in the pipe at this piont and then refill with weld material (sauder?). The noise was totally gone. Now...I guess their weld has broken down and the noise is back. I contacted an Acura mechanic and a fix that he uses is to simply take a self tapping metal screw and drill it up into the pipe at this point. I will try that next.

Haha, I just got 95' GSR and I have the exact same problem. I'll take it to my welding buddy and see what he can do.

this is definitely your problem... way too common
