i have a 97 integra gsr, and i do all of the maint. on it. about a week ago i washed my car and parked it. later that night i got in it and started it and the check engine light came on (not maint req.) i checked to see what code it was and it was a code 8. i disconnected the batt and put it back in and the light turned off. later the next day, i picked up some friends and we were messing around in the country, and at about 6500 rpm's in 3rd gear the check engine light came back on again.

the problem happened at low and high rpms as one was a start and the other was at about 6500. one of my friends thinks it is the distributor

any ideas? if so do you know where i can get one?

maybe you should find out what a code 8 means

 

Code 8 Crankshaft Position Sensor/ Top Dead Center Sensor/ Cylinder Position Sensor

CKP/TDC/CYP sensor circuit disconnected, open or short. Bad TDC
sensor.
