Default 90 integra 4 dr swap with 97 gsr motor likely????? instructions????Guides????INFO pls

Im planning to purchase a 90 integra ls 4dr from a local private seller..... I have a few questions if anybody can help that would be much appericated. First off when I tested drove it, for some reason the muffler kept on shooting smoke out....black/garyish smoke. Im thinking the engine is soon to die.... this leads me on to my secound question. I have a friend who offer me his 97 gsr motor bone stock, is it possible to drop this motor in the 90 ls im gonning to buy without any compercations... like the wireing hardness is it a simple plug in or are they different which I was told by a local mechanic. If this motor is to compercated to swap. What other motors am I left with that well have the same amount of hp/speed of the gsr motor that I can swap without having to modiefield the harness. So if anyone can help me with a few questions that would be wounderful. thanks for your time in looking at this thread. Also if theres a link to a site that lets me know step by step on swaping a b18c in to a 90 integra that would be great.

also the mechanic said that if I didnt want to deal with the harness, I would have to look for a 93yr and down gsr motor because they have the same harness as a 90 ls.

O one more question how come when some people do swaps the "CHECK ENGINE" sign lights up ???????

Any help would be great!

if you want a 2nd gen integra i'd definitely look into buying a 92-93 integra. visit www.g2ic.com. There's a lot of information and resources concerning engine swaps on that site.
