wassup peeps,

i just purchased the spoon tie bar recently and im having a problem with my rear lower tie bar. I had a shop install my tie bar today, and they said the ABS bolts got in the way because of the brackets. They ended up putting a zip tie around the bar and the brackets. My question is how did you guys put your spoon rear tie bars w/o sacrificing the bolts for the abs lines? please help, or imma go switch with another tie bar this week.

 

i believe that is a commin thing on integras...i never had the problem since i have a RS and it doesn't have ABS

 

i just noticed that. The picture on the spoon instructions doesn't have the ABS lines. I really like the bar, but im just worried about the ABS lines. Since the ABS lines are being affected, I just don't want my ABS light going on.

 

hmmm. you would think with spoons rep they wouldn't have problems, but race cars don't have abs so I can see how the design around that. ghetto style it man. thats what i do when i need things to fit.

 

shhhh...the secret is out....i have a spoon rear lower tie on my car also...so i've experienced the problem as well...

the abs lines down there are just wires...theres no fluid or anything going through them, which means they can be bent without any adverse side affects. what me and my neighbor did was use only 2 of the 3 bolt holes, and bent the abs line brackets until we got the brackets for the bar secure. once they're in, make sure your bar is level, otherwise people will see the bar with a lopsided angle. o yeah, make sure u put the bar on the bottom of side of the brackets, not on top, and to torque everything down to spec.

 

I have a neuspeed bar and I just zip tied the abs lines to the bar also. in the instructions it says to cut the bracket to make room for the bar... but i didnt' have anything strong enough to cut it with. I was also gonna just take the abs bracket off the abs line... but couldn't figure out how to do that either...

 

i just bent the bracket.. all of the bolts are still there, and the abs lines are't affected.

 

thanks for your reply's guys, but i might just go with another tie bar because i don't feel like bending the abs wires nor the brackets. If anyone from the bay area is interested in a basically new but used spoon tie bar, shoot me an e-mail.

 

I think you're still gonna run into the same problems even with a new tie bar... not sure tho... if i were u id just keep the nice spoon bar and find something strong enough to take the metal bracket off the abs lines and zip tie the abs line to the bar itself...

 

the lines are zip tied to the spoon bar, but the metal brackets are still exposed. The spoon bar looks really nice and that was the reason i got it. If only spoon had a modified bracket that wouldn't affect the abs, i would be more satisfied with the setup.
