Default Burning smell from air vent when braking to a full stop

Hi Im new here, let me tell you a little about my car

I have a 99 Acura Integra LS that has 44k miles on it. I do regular maintence, oil changes, brake fluid, tranny fluid checks etc.

My problem is now that when Ive driven my car a few minutes and I come across a sign or light to stop fully, this burning smell comes out of the air vents. My car doesnt run hot. Im not sure what the problem could be?

Any ideas??

I dont drive my car hard, in fact I dont drive it much at all

Its an automatic so it can't be the clutch

some more background info, the climate I live in is hot! I live in key west florida and the heat index sometimes gets to 110 degrees or so. I only drive my car like max 15 miles a day cause where I live is so small.

my brakes look good, no fluids visible.... could it be something to do with sparkplugs? just wondering

it could just be the engine getting too hot. watch your water temp gauge

it might be an oil spill/leak somewhere near your exhaust manifold.

it could also be a seized brake caliper. (smells like burnt coffee). after driving your car walk around it and using the back of your hand feel the temprature comming off all of your weels. if its the same then its probobly not your problem. if one of the wheels feels alot hotter then the other 3 its probobly a seized brake caliper.

If it's a seized brake caliper, you should hear some squealing or grinding or squeaking noise. My slider bolt seized on my rear brake and made a lot of noise.

If the smell is kind of sweet smelling, almost like cotton candy, it could be antifreeze. Do you see any green residue in the engine bay or any puddles under your car?

As for your sparkplugs, I'd say to take a look at the wires. Are any of them melted?

Does the smell occur if you recirculate the air that's inside the car? If not, I'd suggest looking around the vents under the hood to see if there's any debris or anything. Also, next time your car smells bad, pull over and try sniffing around the engine bay to see if you can find where the smell is coming from. Good luck!
