Default Integra down - need help

i have a 97 integra non v-tech with 191K miles. the engine began to run a little sluggish and then the check engine light came on with OBD codes P0300,P0301,P302,P303,P304,P399. i replaced the plugs and the cables and while i was at it, replaced the air filter. that didn't resolve the check engine problem. after talking to the guy behind the counter at the local autozone, he mentioned that it might be the fuel filter. i said fine, bought one, installed it and wen't out for a test run. it still ran sluggish - ran on local streets and then on the freeway - on the way back to my house (local streets again), it really started to bog down, backfiring, jerked back and forth and then dead in the middle of a busy street. now it won't start at all. i replaced the new filter back with the old and still nothing, so i put the new one back. with the pressure bolt loosened - when i turn the ignition to the on position, fuel is spraying out from the filter, which tells me that it's not the filter. so here i am stuck, not exactly what to check for now. when i get home today, i'm going to check for spark but beside that, i'm not sure what else to look for. help?! - (i've been asked this one before - could the fuel filter be upside down. - no)

It would probably help if you actually knew what those codes meant. You can guess what the problem is all you want, but it won't get you anywhere if you don't know what exactly is causing the codes.

Couldn't that be something with the timing belt? Maybe not? I dunno?

What about P0399?

The misfires would be fixed with new spark plugs and wires, so the problem is probably that last unknown code.

did you remove the distributor cap? the rotor may be broken or loose. if not, i suspect a distributor problem(igniter or coil failure).

It could be the distributor or the modulator within the distributor.
