quick question about checking CEL's

Ok, I just took out my bad IAT sensor off my intake manifold and put a new one in cause I was getting a checking engine light for it (10). Then I pulled the ECU fuse and backup fuse and let the car sit for about half an hour. I then put the fuses back in and started the car up without touching the throttle and let it run for a few minutes. So how can it be that I am still getting a check engine light for the intake air temp sensor? When the CEL starts flashing is there a flash just to show you that it is working or does it just start with the codes right away?

The problem is not in the sensor then, but possibly in the wiring or ECU.

There's two diagnostic trouble codes for (10).

P0112- Intake Air Temperature Circuit Low Input
P0113- Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

Though you know the malfunction code, it's possible you don't know the diagnostic code.

Probable causes:
P0112- Short in IAT sensor circuit/ECU
P0113- Open in IAT sensor circuit/ECU

Honda has a PGM tester for this type of malfunction. I doubt you will be able to troubleshoot this one on your own without the proper scan tool. Their could be a voltage problem at the ECU wire terminals. It sounds to me like you assumed the problem to be the IAT sensor. There's various probable causes for CELs.

What I don't get is that after taking out the old IAT sensor, part of the long part that goes into the intake manifold looked melted...That's why I really figured the IAT sensor was the culprit...
