I don't know if the ignition cut would cause the problem you're having. I thought IGN cut on an alarm wouldnt even allow the car to crank? Your car is cranking, correct? Just no spark....

yeah the car is cranking, but no spark. I checked with two serperate Honda specialist and they all agree that a DTC 15 tells them its the ignitor all day long.

But it doesn't make sense cuz I tried different ignitors already and another distributor off a running car. Still the same code with different distributor and ecu?

Definitely not the ignitor if you pulled a known good dizzy and still had the same problem. That would have been my first thought as well...which was my first thought when my timing belt snapped. I was getting no spark when my timing belt snapped...but was throwing a crank position sensor code. You're positive the cams are spinning? Cam timing off, or the belt jumped some teeth maybe?

I'll recheck the timing belt and timing. But I'm pretty sure it's good. My dad did a full head gasket set and rebuilt head and timing belt. He's got 35+ years experience. But he left on vacation to Central America as soon as he finished. He left the car running. My bad luck the damn thing started with this problem when he left.

Only other thing I could think of is burnt wire in the wire hareness somewhere, or that darn old alarm that maybe cutting the power. But your right, I'm not sure alarms do that, most just don't even let the car crank.

I'm not questioning that the work was done properly, but sometimes the timing belt just jumps teeth. Especially if the tensioner has not been replaced...if the belt loses tension, it's easy for it to jump teeth. The only other thing I could think of is a short in the wire between the ECU and ICM.

Boost-Hungry 02-26-2005 09:28 AM

That's about the only thing left to check is the actual wiring hareness. If it cranks, gives no spark out of the distributor then the only thing left is that.

I'll recheck the timing belt today. I'm not sure how jumping a tooth would cause no spark. Can you elaborate?

If I can't figure it out. I'll have to throw in the towel and take it to the pros...

Hey thanks for the help guys. I figured this thing out. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! The DTC 15 was correct, it was a distributor problem after all. The wire hareness itself was kinked and a conneter was not making contact with the distributor plug.

The distributor was getting power but the ignition signal was not reaching the distributor. So the engine was cranking but the distributor had no clue. But from all the constant cranking and F*@#$ with the distributor damaged it.

Bought a used one, after fixing the wire hareness, it fired right up. Now I just need 1 injector and a new radiotor fan.
