Starting while cold?

Default Starting while cold?

It cold here -4F or so... It seams my car has a hard time starting. cranking about 3to5 sec before it starts(always does thought). What would you recomend to make it easyer thinking changing oil but its synthetic would that change anything? any other ideas?

get a battery with more cold-cranking amps.

an oil change wouldnt do anything. My car does the same thing in the morning i think its just because of the cold

but arent the diferetn grade of oil the thickness of it? wouldnt thiner oil help? Not questionning you just wondering....

thinner oil would help a bit,

for example if you run 10w30, try 5w30, if you run 5w30 try running 0W30. other than that, a block heater might help it out.

also, if you turn your key to the on position wait till the dash lights stop flashing and chimes stop beeping (like 5-10 seconds) then crank the engine over it will help prime the engine with gas before you start it. try to have all the accessoriess off when you start up the car. (turn off your radio, wipers, heater fan wipers defrost tv/vcr dvd washer and dryer ). in cold weather its gonna be a little harder to start, but i wouldnt worry about it.

Switching to a battery with higher cold cranking amps wont help you. the engine is still going to be cold and will still require the same amount of cranks to start up.

im with him on this,
i had the same problem, when it started to get cold, the car would get harder and harder to crank. then it just wouldnt crank one day. so i bought a new battery, and starts up like new.
