Hello all. Like many acuras (including my old one) the antennae does NOT go up/down anymore, instead everytime i turn the radio on it makes this cranking sound, YUCK. How can I disable the crank. I'd rather just have it off! Thanks!

 

Open up the carpeting the covers the antenna. You should be able to find the wiring harness for the antenna - unplug it. Cover it or tape it so it doesn't short against the fender or something.

 

There's been a lot of people with this problem, myself included on my old accord. An easy way to prevent it though is every couple months, put the antenna up and wipe it down with some detergent/degreaser, i use dishsoap. works fantastic, then just get a rag to wipe off the extra soap and that's all there is to it. It'll take less then 5 minutes, well worth the time if you ask me.

 

That's just a broken antenna mast, like a $10 part. Take apart the power antenna unit and you'll see what I mean.

 

I just replaced my stock (stuck) antenna that was always up. Motor still works fine... but all of that is gone now in favor of a Shark Attack II antenna. Looks 300% better than the rc car antenna of stock.
