The Integra stock intake........
..has a large plastic growth on it. My question is, what is this growth called and what function does it serve. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about it's the plastic tube that fits in this hole.
Sorry this thread is vague but I don't know what I'm posting about.
My brain tells me that this plastic design may somewhat disrupt airflow.

No it's not a tumor. :fawk:

I've been told that this is to collect a small amount of moisture if it should be drawn into the intake. Some vehicles have a U-shaped tube that fits into this location that serves the same purpose and talso to muffle sound under full-throttle.

I have removed the resonator and did a DIY Icebox CAI with an E2427 K&N filter. The only thing that baffles me is this plastic thingy that hangs off the intake. I'm very pleased with this setup as I can hear more sound from the engine, not the intake.

Well if that's the function it serves then maybe I shouldn't remove it. Taking out the resonator in the fender is as far as I go.
I wouldn't want my stock intake sounding like it's farting.

As with the grooves and bumps on the intake arm, it acts like a muffler. I never thought about the moisture thing, but I would imagine that moisture would be going though that arm pretty quickly and would just fly past that little hole that is suppose to collect it. :dunno:
