I can't find parts for 89 Integra LS.... only 90+

I want to soup up my JDM D16A1 in my 89 integra LS... But I can't find the parts for that year.. just 90 and above... my friend said that 89-92 were the same.. But I don't know because 90 integra LS has 1.8 liter.. I got 1.6... I also would like to know.. what would be better.... sell that engine and tranny (still new) and buy a JDM B16A1 and tranny and put that in.... or keep the D16A1 and soup it... any advice is cool..

'86-'89 are the first generation cars, '90-'93 are the second generation.

HASport sells a kit to swap a B-series motor into your car, but it's $599 for just those mounts. Then you have to buy the motor and all that other assorted stuff.

Personally I don't think I'd want to throw that much money into an '89 Integra.

There is no such thing as a "JDM" D16A1. It just doesn't exist.

Over in Japan, their version of that engine is the browntop and blacktop DOHC ZC, stamped "ZC" on the block. The US 86-87 D16A1 is similar to the browntop, the US 88-89 D16A1 is somewhat of a half-breed of the browntop and blacktop. Both are detuned for the US market, since the browtop ZC put out 135 flywheel horsepower while it's US counterparts only put out 112 (86-87) and 117 horsepower (88-89.) Swaping in higher compression ZC pistons and the more aggressive ZC cams will give you a decent boost in power.

Yeah, thanks for that useful tip. God forbid you should actually have to think when modifying a car.

Haa, Yea my first integra was a gen1. It was really fun, but almost absolutly no aftermarket for that beast!!. even the cold air intake I had to make myself (thank you Home Depot). All you can really do is get a custom exhaust, and really it isnt worth it.

Keep the gen 1 for you A-B driving, save ur money for a 90+ integra. trust me!!. Gen 1's are nice and light, the gearing is nice and short, the handling is pritty good.
