Common bolt-on's before upgrading cams?

I have a B18C1 and am looking at purchasing ITR/CTR cams along with cam gears, VAFC and ossibly upgraded valve train.
My question is do I need to have an exhaust, header and hi-flow cat prior to doing this. I mean how much do those commmon bolt-ons assist with the camshafts and proper tuning???
I already have a CAI as well.
WEhen I do go exhaust I am looking at a JDM 4-1 header from an ITR with 2.5 " collector along with carsound cat and custom exhaust at 2.5"; basically 2.5" from header to tip.
Any help would be appreciated.

Full intake and exhaust before the cams. The cams allow the engine to breathe better, so they won't do you as much good if you still have the restrictive stock exhaust.

I'd look into more aggressive cams then that, though.

I don't want more aggressive as I don't intend to get too hardcore into building up my engine.
I just don't want to get headers, exhaust as I find you don't see any gains from them for the price you pay.

basic bolt ons can get expensive, but u wont see "nothing" with them. there definetly will be an increase in power and less restriction.

:hahano: wow, they don't cost that much, and it opens your car up. you can't do too much other things to your car without doing i/h/e. and yes, you do get minor gains from these mods and it helps for future modifications.

header, singular.

Besides, the gains from a pair of cams will be greater if you have a freer exhaust. That's how they work.

Bolt-ons on a stock motor don't do much.

Bolt-ons with cams, get you more benefit from the cams.

'Nuff said.

I just laugh at people that spend 1000$+ on a header, catback exhaust and hi-flow cat. Those mods yield maybe 5-8 HP to the wheels. I also don't like the idea of a fartcan (exhaust) as they are annoying and loud. I guess there is no point in getting cams if I don't upgrade to a header and full catback first.
Thanks for the info guys.

:slap: you have much to learn. did you not read the previous posts those "basic " bolt ons is a starter and is better like mr. booty said for future mods such as cams, valve train, bigger TB, etc.
