I think it's called an oil breather filter or something...

Mine has a tube from that location going to the valve cover. It's the small hose under the oil cap.

You'll notice some people just stick a small air filter there sometimes.

look closer, dom, behind the plastic resonator in the pic and you'll see the breather your speaking of going into the intake tube.
