Default To buy or Not to buy?

Is it worth spending high dollars for a cold air intake system or a short shifter or anything else just to get that name brand sticker on it or is there really a diffrence in performance between expensive and cheap? Now I know 75% of the time cheapo stuff breaks and expensive stuff last longer, but there are those occasion where something is built exactly the same with one or two slight mods to make it "diffrent". Now I love my teg, but between college and an apartment I can't afford the nicer things for my teg, but I still want my teg to get something new every now and then, would buying the cheaper performance parts be worth it?

The old "you get what you pay for" adage still applies. If anyone happens upon something that is both cheap and quality it gets gobbled up in crazy numbers, for example Rota wheels.

Some things yes, some things no.

Rarely, there is that cross between cost and effectiveness thats too good to pass up. Like FB says, Rotas are a perfect example.

My advice? Buy shit used to save cash.

My advice? Control.

Get gripper tires.
Get a firmer suspension.
Get bigger brakes.

No, I meant that they're cheap and good so everyone buys them.

I remember hearing something about Rota wheels weren't durable and were prone to cracking. That's why I asked.

My bad.

the rotas i had stood up to any obstacle i rolled over

i really don't think an intake arm is going to make a difference with brands as long as its not a CAI. this also applies to any non-adjustable short shifter. the only thing i would worry about a cheap short shifter is its tendency to crack

when it comes to engine internals, electronics or the brake system i wouldn't mess with cheap stuff.

Well maybe if I show you what I was thinking about getting then maybe I can get some more input on specific iteams rather than an overall of iteams.

Acura Integra cold air intake /Buy price is at $25.00 and shipping is $16.99/ TOTAL: $41.99 vs. a $120 to $350 AEM name brand.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

Acura Integra racing short shifter /Buy price is at $9.50 and shipping is $9.50/ TOTAL: $19.00 vs. $59.99 B&M Short Throw Shifter.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33591

Acura Integra 5 ZIGEN R STYLE 4' TIP MUFFLER /Buy price is at $25.00 and shipping is $24.00 vs. a $130 JDM Revolution S2(yes I know this is a bad example because the JDM is a hella lot better for the price, but I couldn't find the first one I saw that had cheaper shipping costs.)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33636

Acura Integra V2 coilover springs /Buy price is at $29.99 and shipping is free vs. $159 Weapon-R Coilovers 2 Springs.

I could go on and on.... most of these *except* the muffler are made with all the same material and can hardly be told apart, so why pay more for the name brand?
