I have a 17x7 with a +45mm offset, no rubbing.

My setup:

GC's and Koni's dropped around 1.75 front and 1.5 rear
Rota C8's 15 x 6.5 +38mm
Falken Azenis 205/50/15

I have experienced no rubbing at all during daily driving. I'll let you know if I rub any during extreme conditions like when I autocross this weekend.

P.S. the +38mm offset on the 15's definately get rid of the sunk in look or tuck of the stock rims. They fill the wheel well nicely. Don't stick out of the fender (just slightly at the bottom of the wheel/tire because of my slight negative camber).

The higher offset you have, the less likely it will rub.
Thus allowing you to run a wider tire if the rim size permits.

If you run a low offset, you will have a fatter lip.
