Default High flow cat for 98 Gsr

I have a 98 gsr & I need a convertor. I ve seen a few places that sells the magnaflow high flow cat. Place I found wants like 458 bucks. I have twin 9 mo old sons so I cant afford to spend 500-1000 bucks for a cat convert. I have a ws2 cat back stock header. Trying to see where did everyone buy their high flow cats & what it cost. Someone told me look for magnaflow direct fit 9000 series. The one I found at autoparts warehouse they wanted like 458. Also does the high flow cat improve flow over the oem cat?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

hey gingas sorry for the late reply, but i remember getting a carsound cat from "jose" for around 125 installed (typical muffler shop special). sure it flows more than stock, but will it pass smog? from what i've seen, most aftermarket or replacement to OEM cars BARELY pass smog assuming everything else is healthy.

If you are trying to get more noise out of your exhaust system then go with a test pipe, but for performance reasons get a highflow cat, with the test pipe you will lose torque.
