benefits to this?

what would the benefits of putting a blow off valve on the intercooler endtank like in the pic below be as opposed to putting it on the intake pipe?

People say the ideal placement for a bov is near the compressor to alleviate surge. Anywhere on the piping will work because the air travels at the speed of sound.
