Shifting
I've been driving stick for about 2 years, I'm pretty good at it. I was wondering if there was any little tricks or tips to help with my acceleration and start off's and changeing gears, any info would be great. I have a short throw shifter and stock clutch and flywheel if that helps any.
POWER SHIFT!!! Ah, wait, that's retarted. At least if you want your tranny to live long. If you're pretty good at it, why do you want tips? I guess the best thing I could say is learn to balance the clutch and gas in first to that you aren't moving while holding the engine at a higher rev. Find a good engine speed at which you can drop the clutch and hit the gas without too much spin or the engine bogging down. Each car has a little different optimum speed, depending on state of tune, traction, etc. I find my car launches best at 2500 w/o bogging and a tiny little chirp. I haven't found many who take me right off the line (then again most people I race have auto's it seems...)
