my car recently died after driving through some high water. it wasnt sitting in it but i ran through a beastly puddle and now it wont start. Ive heard of hydro-lock and I know thats whats wrong because inside my tb was a decent amount of water. what i want to know is is there any way to save my motor? its a internally stock d16z6 that is in my 94 ex coupe and it has around 100k miles. the reason it died was my cai combined with a decent drop, but its not really slammed

 

Sounds like the end of your engine. I'm sure it's not that much for a replacement engine, esp if you find a used one.

 

yea i am gonna swap anyway but i wanted to know if i could fix it then sell it. my boy says he can fix it. hes a honda tech.

 

If you hydo-locked the engine, you probably bent a rod. It's easy to tell which rod is bent when the head is off and it's an easy fix if you have the engine out.

Does the engine crank over or does the engine just "click" when you try to start it?

 

That would be my question. If it turns over, you have hope. If it doesn't move, you have bigger problems to deal with.

 

no it doesnt turn over. it did the first time trying to start it after it died but not anymore.

Give it a good long time to dry out, could be an electrical problem. If it cranks, you didn't hydrolock.

 

Take all 4 sparkplugs out, try again. Maybe water will come out the plug hole. OTOH, maybe the rings have had time to corrode & seize to the cylinders.

If that works, then change oil a couple times. There might be water in your crankcase.
