Default Rebuild vs. Swap?

I have a 97 DX so its got the D series motor. My original plan was to get a B16a swap and then turbo or supercharge it. but someone told me that it might be a better idea to just completely rebuild this one. So I'm wondering if it is possible to take a DOHC cyldiner head and replace it with my SOHC head and then put performance pistons in it. If I went with the swap I'd wanna buy new pistons anyways after the turbo or supercharger to improve the compression ratio. If I were to rebuild this one I would be buying new intake manifold, throttle body, headers, downpipe, exhaust, cam gears, cylinder head, and performance pistons (all wide enough to go with the turbo or Supercharger). If I were to buy the swap then I would just have to buy new pistons after I force induction, and would be cheaper, but then I would still have the header, intake manifold, and throttle body of a B16a. So bassicalyl I'm asking from anyone who knows anything about this out there to tell me if a rebuild like this is even possible and how hp would compare to the swap. also If I did the rebuild could I keep my tranny, I know if I swapped a B series engine I need a B series tranny.
thank you so much.

no on the dohc head on the sohc block. or the other way around cause that question was confusing. you do not need a header with a turbo. and the rest is just confusing. :eh:

do you know how a turbo or supercharger work? do you know how an engine works?

Snoopy is right man, there is no swaping heads between an SOHC and a DOHC. Diff dimensions....blah blah. No header with a turbo setup as well dude

For some reason, your post seems very confusing so let me try and get this straight...

You're wondering whether you should rebuild your current motor with B16 parts (which isn't possible) or just buy a B16 which you'd rebuild anyway correct?

Everyone learns new things so hopefully Snoopy and alllooksnogo and others can point you in the right direction.

Hey Donkiman sorry if I'm being an ass and this isn't any part of your question but don't you think your sideskirts are a little uneven with the rest of your kit man. IMO

With as confusing as that was, I have only one comment. For the money, a swap is better then a rebuild.
