Default ok noob question (big suprise)

I currently have skunk2 coilovers.

I've been told by a few people i need new struts.

here's the noob question (be gentle)

Do i need shocks and struts?

or are shocks and struts a pair?
or are shocks = coilovers?

feel free to laugh at me

You have struts, not shocks. Coilovers are basically springs. I think so atleast... I'm kinda new to the import scene and they have different equipment than old American cars.

Coilovers are adjustable springs...Shocks are the tubes inside the springs that absorbs the "SHOCKS" your wheels take on the ride...I think shocks and struts are the same thing?? Not positive.

Shocks and struts are pretty much the same thing. Usually when I hear you need your "shocks" replaced, it indicates that the shock is independent of the spring. A "strut" assembly indicates that the damper (aka shock) is coupled with the spring. Meaning that to get to the damper you have to remove the spring. If you just have a shock set up on your car, you can remove the damper without even messing with the spring. That's why when you go to the shop, it costs 2 to 3 times more to have your struts replaced. As said above (to my knowledge anyway) a "coilover" in the import world usually means height adjustable springs which install over your damper (strut set up). This is to the best of my knowledge, so if I am just way off, so be it, somebody correct me or back me up.

Thanks,

Air

agx's aren't too bad either.

depends on how much you like to tinker with shit. If thats the case, then I'd really suggest holding out for the yellows.

As 18sec said, the yellows are well woth the money from the tinkering standpoint...hehe! I've never had personal experience with KYB's but a friend of mine researched the agx's and those were his second choice next to the yellows. I've also heard good things about them while researching my own choice.
