Default new engine in car need help

I just put a b16 in my 93 coupe. Problem is the ignition timing is all screwed up....i think. When i started it it just sputtered and ran like crap. I put in skunk2 stage 2 cams and had the head decked 20...thats the relavent mods to my question. SO i was thinkin i needed to advance the ignition timing to compensate for decking the head which retards the timing. Thanks for any help i need to know if im on the right track?

Use a timing light. If you don't have one, get one, don't guess around on getting your base ignition timing set if you think it's off.
