Default good compression to shoot for when building a block

I finally got a new project, its an 89 dx rex. Im building up a mild engine for it. The blocks an a6 bored .60 over with a y8 head, and its going f/i (not sure if im going supercharger or turbo yet) whats a good compression to shoot for? i was thinking low to mid 9s. The car is gonna be an auto cross car, so i still want it to have some power off boost (thats why im thinking about a supercharger rather then a turbo - well that and its harder to change the boost level on a super charger..... call it prevenitive matenance )
Thanks in advance

9.0:1 has always been considered a fair ratio for boosted applications.
