I was at Kragen's last night and picked up one of those STP FI cleaners. Since they were pretty cheap ($1.99), I thought why not?

My question is, does this thing really help clean up your FI or is it just one of those placebo fluids for your car that doesn't do anything?

 

It does something, just not much. I heard of a trick a while back that involved 4 bottles at once... but I don't recommend that. An actual injector cleaning and balance will do far more then the cleaners.

 

Its not the most efficient way to clean your injectors...but it does make a slight difference in my experience. If they need cleaning, they should be ultrasonically cleaned and tested professionally.

Just for common maintenance, it isnt a bad idea. It isnt the right choice to clean an injector that is clogged or requires a professional cleaning however.
