Default Starting Noise in 99 TL

Just writing on behalf of my father.
Does anyone here with a 99 - 01 TL ever experience a small - medium bang when they start up the car. This bang usually occurs in colder weather. Once it warms up the banging sound goes away. Sounds like its either transmission or ignition related.

Warrenty is up in August so I really need to know.

If you hear a bang, it might be a bad engine mount. Does it bang more under hard acceleration? If the warranty is going to be up in August, bring it to the dealer now.

Thanks for the reply.

This only happens when the car is started. It sounds like it could be the ignition or drivetrain.

Took it to the dealer today actually and, they found nothing.
it happens more in cool weahter.

I was hoping others had experienced this before and had it fixed!
We only have 30k KM on this car.

Your Dad should just leave his TL at the dealership and let them start it in the morning when it's cold.

It's an engine mount. During certain weather and engine conditions, air gets trapped and the first "kick" of the engine starting causes a bang. Lots of posts in 1999-2000 on this. Doesn't appear to do any harm.

try turning your climate control off when you park. and that bang should go away the next time you start the car

It could be something in the ignition. I just got a recall leter about the ignition possibly failing so back it goes to the shop. Although I have not heard it make a bang noise. Mine was making a tick tick tick sound that was sort of metallic. They told me that this was normal will see.
