Default How do you get a smell out of a carpet??

so I just got a 97 gsr and the owner apparently put a bag of mulch in the trunk and the trunk carpet reeks. We took it out and shampood it with a vaccum cleaner and sprayed deodorizer on it but the next day the car stank again. I have it hanging out now, but I think the stink seeped into the paneling in the car or something. What do I do to make it go away?

Replace the interior and seats if it is the total nast, try closing it up with plates of baking soda sitting in the car. Park it is the sun for a while. Maybe some of that ozium shat, or what they use in hospital and nursing homes

Thanks, but I cannot afford a new interior. The trunk carpet is the source of the smell. I think there is a little bit of smell in the car itself but it can bet gotten rid of. So heating it up in the sun can get rid of smells?.... windows up then?

Meguiars Odor Eliminator, or some stuff made by Turtle Wax, called Power Out. You spray It, scrub it in and the smell/stains gone. Both products work great. The Turtle Wax Power Out can be found at Autozone, Discount Auto Parts, but I don't know if the Meguiars Odor Eliminator is there.

it doesn't matter how bad your car smells when you drive a gsr!
