Default so exactly how much does your wheel weight effect your 1/4 time?

whats up, got a 95 gsr with intake and exhaust sand some more things comming in about a week. i have the 15" 94-95 gsr wheels that weigh 16lbs. right now my car runs a 14.7 with kinda shitty tires. i was wondering approx. how much 17" wheels that weigh 17lbs each would effect my time, and then how much 18 lbs would effect my time, 19lbs, 20 lbs. i know it depends on the car and you cant give me an exact figure, but approxamitely how much? would like 19lb 17" wheels take off as much as a half a second or just like .1 or .2 ? sorry for the confusing wording, i got a headache and dont feel like thinking too hard, haha. thanks.

You should definitely be able to feel the difference with a 17 inch wheel. I'm guessing like 3 tenths, maybe more depending on its weight?

well when i went to the track (for the first time), my best run was a 15.6 with my 17" wheels on. i did deflate the tires a bit, but that should give you an idea. it also was pretty warm

Wheel & tire weight affects you just like vehicle weight. But it goes like this...

One pound of weight right at the center of the wheels is worth exactly the same as one pound of extra junk in your backseat.

One pound of weight located at the outside of the wheel is worth the same as TWO pounds of junk in the backseat. This would be, for example, heavier belts in the tire.

Since the weight is really distributed in between the hub & the tread, then it's worth somewhere between 1x and 2x times the deadweight.

You can't just compare the weight of 15" against 16" or 17" wheels. The tires to fit those wheels also weigh different.

The slip ratio of the tires themselves also matters. A lot. But that's not about their weight.
