my friend and i installed his stage ones the other day. the car runs great with em vtec is so so oh my god . but any way when vtec engages at 4400 or what ever it is on a gsrit lags until 6k. he has the skunk 2 intake manifold as well. what ecu woulsd work so his car isnt running in safety mode with the cel cause of the manifold or does any body know of a way to fix it. cause we need to set vtec at 6k and his vtec controller doesnt work with the cel. thanks

What code is it throwing? A correct install of the manifold wouldn't give you a CEL.

 

I am the one that he is talking about. The reason it is showing a CEL is because of the Skunk2 IM not having the secondaries that usually engage at 6g on a stock gsr IM. And with those not being there the ECU is registering that and showing a CEL. And after my Skunk2 IM was installed and the CEL showed up my VTEC controller stopped working. So would me getting say an OBD II Type R ECU work out on my car?(since my car has a OBD II ecu) Since there is no secondaries and it wouldn't show a CEL. Or is this CEL not having anything to do with my VTEC controller. Any suggestion would be helpful.

 

I've never heard of a CEL going off because of secondaries. What code are you getting?

 

Well I haven't technically tested it to see what the exact code is. I was just figuring that that was the problem since right after it was installed the cel showed. And I have talked to people around here that have done the IM on their gsrs before and they said they had the same deal. Oh and I have tried to go and see what code it is showing but for some reason the little port thing or w/e where you plug into to check and see what code it is throwing does not work on my car. Autozone told me this? I have no clue why it would not work.
