Default K&N Airfilter

Anyone have a K&N Airfilter in their stock teg airbox? If so how do you like it? How much do they run for? Is it worth getting?

you know i really wanted to get the stock replacement also, but you should try "cutting" your stock airbox top. It makes your intake sound cool. hahaha, i dont know about power addition, but its a nice change since i have 2 extra stock intakes, on top of my AEM.

thanks for the input, but does anyone have the K&N Filter in their stock airbox? I am not cutting the top of the box off for obvious reasons.

I have/had a K&N in my stock box.

You can either get either one of two K&N filters......The direct drop in (no modification) is part E2427 and the generic size filter which requires some modification (cutting off the top of your old filter and putting it on the new one) is RU2820. The best price on the direct drop in filter is about $65 and the best price on the other one is about $35. I didn't want to mess around so I just got the direct drop in. It seemed fine.........no real noticable change in anything. I was curious about what it would to to gas milage (supposed to increase a little bit). I only ran it completely stock for about a week though. Then, I took off the stock resonator and made a DIY Icebox intake. So now, it works great and I love it! haha But I think a lot of this has to do with the intake not simply the box.

I don't know exactly what modifications are needed to make the 2820 fit into the stock box, but I don't think it is that hard......someone else has to know. I also think that they have that info. on the "other" site ( http://www.honda-tech.com/ ). I would love to take credit for my own design of the DIY Icebox, but after reading and looking around for a bit, this was the best, and simplest design that I found, so I pretty much simply followed the directions..........

http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html

Again, there are countless ways to do this, I just thought this was a good one. Conversely, there is a thread over there right now
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=531630
discussing a design that is flawed for a few reasons......

If you want more links or info, let me know I think I still have a few sites saved.

I don't know what this did as far as power goes, but according to the butt dyno (and we all know how reliable that is) it is great - especially considering the price and difficulty. Basically, I am very happy with it - also considering this was my first attempt at modding.......I know, I know......I am a noob. I have been lurking around here for a while trying to pick a few things up here and there.

Here are a few places

http://www.performance-air-filters.c...filters-2.html

I got mine at ($65.50 shipped for the E2427 - direct drop in)
http://www.performanceintl.com/

http://www.martelbros.com/cgi-bin/st...ore=direct.KNN

$65-$70 including shipping is good for the E2427
and $35-$40 shipped is good for the RU2820
