Default 3.0 CL radio code

I bought this car and had to replace a bettery and now i have to put in code. It is 97 Acura 3.0 CL.
Is there any way to get it working by myself or do i have to take it to the dealership, and how much would it cost to get the code from the dealer?
thanks

The code is free. It should be in your owner's manual. If not, ask the previous owner if he/she has it.

Yeah.... Unfortunately there is no code in the manual and previous user can't find it yet. I went to dealership and they said it will be $100 to take the radio out, look at serial number and get the code from Acura. For that money i can by a new better player.

I recently purchased a '97 2.2 CL and I have the same problem as kotaro. My cd player doesnt work but the radio does. The battery has been replaced and I talked to the dealer, and they said the same serial code deal, but no price for that yet. If a replacement was required no matter how much work would be done $180 charge would be billed. I think i'm just gonna go buy a new alpine head unit. Any ideas on how to input that code and get the player workin?

Well, try to take the radio out yourself and get the serial code. That way, you don't have to pay them $100 labor and should be able to get the code for free.

Don't pay the dealer anything. When I called the dealer for the same issue for my 97' 3.0 CL, they had it on file. Also check glove box for stickers that have the code on it... the dealer stuck it on the inside of my trunk so that I have access to it when I need it and I will only know where it is and what it's for..
good luck.

Default Radio Code

I had a similar incident where my radio was knocked out due to a battery change. There was a sheet of paper I received when I purchased the car which served as a check list for the original owner when we drove the car off the lot for the first time. On the top of the page, it had both the radio code and the NAVI code specific to your car. I kept all my stuff in the binder in the glove compartment with all the manuals. Try there. If you are not the original owner of the car, I think the dealership gives you a very difficult time in obtaining the codes.

Some places will be able to get you the code just based off the VIN number.

On my TL-S, I had the CDplayer changedunder warranty, and the codes for the new stereo were added to my computer records which can be pulled up at any Acura dealer.

I say try another dealer. If they still wont do it, pull the radio yourself, and give the serial number to the dealer.
