Default how much do i need to drop my 96 sedan for my rims to tuck?

i plan on gettin a set of 17 inch rims 17x7.0 4x100, 40offset with 205/40/17 tires, how low must i drop it in order for the top of the rim to be just barely tucked under my fender? or do i need 18's for this? not extremely tuck, but just enuff so the fender covers the top part of the rim...

for 17s with 205/40's, you're not going to need much in order for them to tuck.

i'd say 1.9 in the front and 1.7 in the back should be good.

My friend had 17's on his sedan with eibach sportlines, and the back was barely tucking (he had 2 12's tho), but the front was too high, since the sportlines have an "even" drop of 1.8 inches, or at least his did.

you can turn the coil overs down to make 17's tuck but if you turn them all the way down you will be too low you will bottomout on the street tear up the front bumper every thing will get stuck under neath the car. you will have to keep lifting it up and down and ajusting until you get it were you want it

I think tucking your tires looks good for show purposes but for everyday driving it's going to cause rubbing problems when turning. With the wheel inside the well a bit some of the turning radius is going to be lost. I wouldn't do this riding around town.

Dont listen to DB7. hahaha

I'm rolling on 15's on 195-50-15 tires. My car is lowered about 2.5 in the front, and 2 in the back....my tires still dont tuck, but my exhaust resonator is a scant 2 inches off the ground.

I'm riding on 17" wheels, lowered 2" and there's about a 1 finger gap. 2.5" should do the trick.
