Default Emergency brake light stays on...help!

I have a 1998 Integra LS 2dr. When I drove it into town this morning, the emergency brake light was on. I pulled into a parking lot and tried to release it further, but it was all the way down. I continued on my trip, and the light came on again, and then it went off. It did the same thing on the way home. I don't smell anything, so I don't think the emergency brake is actually engaged, but it just bothers me that its on. Any ideas about what the cause might be?

Thanks

If you take apart the center console (where the handbrake/arm rest is), you'll see there is a small on/off mechanic sensor connected to the ebrake. Try playing with that a little bit so the ebrake only triggers the switch when its up on the first click.

If your car is still under warranty you can get it checked out by the dealer. I'm sure its just a quick fix.

the brake light indicates Ebrake is on or malfunctioning brake system.

9 times out of 10, you are either low on fluid, or the sensor in the cap for the brake fluid is busted.

Fill the fluid. If that doesnt work, try getting a new cap. Usually that is the end of the problem.
