Default new rsx questions...

couple quick questions...

the manual says the break-in period is 600 miles.....i'm currently around 400, but i was wondering if there's anything special i'm supposed to do during that time. obviously, i'm not red-lining or slam-shifting, but i wasn't sure if there's anything i could do that's actually helpful for the car.

also, i've noticed a little notchiness shifting into second. the other shifts are smooth as velvet, but for some reason second is slightly choppy - nothing too bad, but i was wondering if that's normal.

otherwise the car is simply orgasmic can't wait till i have the money to do some mods

any comments/answers would be helpful

Break-in advice for the Integra (probably applicable to your RSX, just take into account the redline differences):

For the first 200 miles don't go above 4000 rpm. You can "zing" it to 5000 every once in a while but don't do it a lot.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 5000 rpm. Zing it to 6000 every once in a while.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 6000 rpm. Zing it to 7000 every once in a while.

For the next 200 miles don't go above 7000 rpm. Zing it to redline every once in a while.

When cruising on the highway, never stay in one gear for more than 5 minutes. Shift between 5th and 4th so you can vary the revs, and also try to not let your speed stay constant.

Change the oil after the first 1500 miles.

Also, someone else posted a similar question in this forum, so you may want to check that out as well:

the second gear notchiness is normal. everyones got it. its when it starts grind during a normal shift that you will have a problem. since your car is new though you shouldnt get it. they supposedly remedied it a few months back.
