Default idle screwd up

hey peeps,
m idle is really ****ed up. when i first start the car up and drive for the first 5 miles or so, my idle is between 500 and 1200, and when its at 500 the engine shakes really bad and wants to stall out. it does every so often after the engine's been running also.
thanks,
j

sounds like you've got a spark plug, a fuel injector, or both, temporarily fouling out while it's idling. That would explain the shaking. Pull your spark plugs and look at them, see if any are extremely ashy or oily. Also, you can check your fuel injection system with a multimeter and the service book.

When you say the idle is between 500 and 1200 RPM, do you mean that the idle jumps up and down between there? Or does it pick some level in that range and stay there? If it's jumping, it could be one of a few different sensors that's faulty. The Electronic Air Control Valve (EACV), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Coolant Temp Sensor and the Crank Angle Sensor all communicate with the ECU to control idle. The test procedures are simple, you just need a multimeter and the service book.

well it picks a point after it moves up n down and stays dere. it picks a pt at 900 then drops down to 500 and hesitates and shakes.
