Accord Top Speed
What's the published top speed for a...
1998 Honda Accord EX 4cyl Sedan?
I'm over here in Germany and @120mph it's like a rock and is quite nice (& quiet). Saturday I saw 137mph on the speedo...and it was still trying to climb I think...as I was concentrating mostly on the road. Soo...I was just wondering what the official published top speed is?

the drag limited body design is 150 mph or so i believe. maybe even less for sedans.

Drag limited body design is not 150, it is around 135-140 MPH...the theoretical top speed is around 150MPH.
I can imagine speedometer error as why it was climbing at 137 (do you have stock tires on? Hondas read 2% high), published top speed are usually between 128-132 MPH. I took several trips to 135 when I had my AV6 along the Finger Lakes on Dunlop SP9000s and the car felt like damn stable up there, but traffic always prevented me from digging it out.

I'll prolly be heading out to stuttgart this weekend so I'll run it up again and see if I can see where it stops.

I've read in mags that there is a governor, but I don't know anyone that has experienced it.

hehe and I've taken my coupe to 142 (by the tach) with my wider circumference tires (225/55-16). Calculate it if you want, I estimate I was going maybe 138 with error, but just a guess.
Isn't the 5 freeway just awesome?

being this is a 4 cyl the likely answer is 137. on F22 vtecs the limit is 137...so I suspect that the F23 vtec is right about there.
don't forget the car only come with H-rated tires good for 130 mph.
