Default 90 integra tranny conversion

I have a 1990 integra 1.8 dohc.I am now on my third auto tranny in three months so after many dollars I have decided not to feed my car yet another auto and opt to go with a 5spd. I have a good mechanic to do the conversion for $350 labor. My question is does anyone know for fact what tranny options will work. I know were a low mileage 1.6 crx 5spd is, but will it fit. I know I have to change axles and such.I could really use some help on this cause nobofy around here seems to know for sure what will fit.

I'm not real sure what will fit into there but how are you driving that you went through three clutches in three months? What has been the problem. As for the 5-speed the 90 comes with a cable clutch so keep that in mind that way you don't have to worry about the hydro. I would go with the 90 5-speed just so you know that it fits with no problems.

No not three clutches three auto trannies.I have no clue why I drag some and drive moderate but nothing that should hurt the trannies.I bought my car as a flood salvaged car,so I thought it may be electrical but I have a new ecu and tcu with no codes.I love my car and have way to much time and money in it to get rid of it but I can't afford to keep putting trannies in it.So I figure a 5 speed will give me a little more power and alot more reliability.

I would say finding out what is causing the tranny to go out is the first thing because who is to say that this isn't related to something else that still might ruin the 5-speed when it's put into it. I'm not real good with trannies so I don't know if there is anything else that could go wrong with the drive train that could cause the tranny to go out like that. Your mechanic should be able to check the tranny to see what is failing in it and a possibel cause.
