Default Arrgggg, ran over a nail/screw! Help!

Ok, so I was coming home from the gym and I drove through some debris from a car accident that just happened...When I got home, I found a screw right in the tread of my tires!

The tires I have are stock now, but it was almost time to get new tires anyway...so I guess I could just buy a new set of decent tires, instead of wasting money on repairing it. Apparently the dunlop SP5000 is discontinued (?). I was looking at the Kumho Ecsta MX ($79 a piece) in size p205/50/R15. Anyone have any comments on these tires? How long do they last? How much grip do they have? Is it worth it?

I have heard the MX's are the shit. I just had a screw removed from my 205/40/17 Falken 451 and the shop that did it ****ed up my rim doing it so they are buying me a new wheel. A $20 job to fix ended up costing them $300!! If you decide to get it fixed, its not that expensive, but make sure the shop you take it to is reputable and does good work. I would get new tires, personally, the OEM Michellins suck!!

Do you have a Discount Tire/America's Tire Co. near your area. They do flat repairs for free.

The Ecsta MX > SP5000

I used to have the SPs, except the R ate through them like woah. These MXs are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better.

really though, most places will fix a tire for $10.

Yea, I considered that... I was wary of the lower load rating and junk. A LOT of the ITR guys on H-T run 195/50, but I'm not fawking with it.

Is the hole in the tread or the sidewall?
Sidewall holes, while rare, will KO the tire.
Tread punctures are wayyy easy to fix... assuming you get em all.

depending on your rim, it could be as easy as fix aflat in a can. not on aluminum though. you can throw a plug in it in aprox. 2 minutes though for under 10.00 for tool and a handfull of plugs. just a thought

As others have suggested, having it fixed is cheap. Fixing it yourself is nominally cheaper, but if you're feeling adventurious, you can get the kit at any major automotive store - or even Target and places like that. I have one I think it was $7 or so for the tool, the plugs and whatever else is in that package.
