Default Noob, need helping setting up a system

Hey guys...

Any constructive advice is welcome. I'm trying to put together a system for my car but need some help with the wiring and also just need some advice what I should and should not get....

Oh yea, I dont want to spend an arm and a leg along with my third leg for a sound system. Just something nice to thump...

At the moment, I'm thinking of a Pioneer head unit with Pioneer TS-C1653 component system (6.5" speakers with lil tweeters) with a pair of Pioneer TS-A1670R 3-way 6.5" speakers in the rear. A custom subwoofer box housing 2 10" Pioneer Subwoofers (closed) ... Yea its all pioneer... I dont want to spend too much money and hope someone would give me input as to what amp I should get and also input on these pioneers speakers...

FYI, this is for a del sol so trunk subwoofers is probably out of the picture.

Thanks

LD

Before I say anything, this phrase needs to become a solid number.

For the whole setup, or for just the amp? Post what you want to spend on the whole system, then I can help you out a bit more.

The whole setup. I wanted to upgrade my stock speakers to something that will sound better. I was thinking of the 6.5" pioneer component system and a pair of 3 way pioneer 6.5" speakers for the rear. And also 2 10" Pioneer Subs... (some or most of these parts will be from eBay.) The Pioneer subs I"m looking at are about 60 bux shipped. I was wondering if I can do all of this for about $300.... I'd like one amp (or two if I have to run the front speakers on its own) with this setup....

Any ideas? What about any suggestions that you have about upgrading the system and adding 2 10's? If you had $300 and you had to upgrade my system what would u do with it? (im saying 2 10's becuase i'm building a custom subwoofer enclosure to go behind the seats... in the del sol theres a stupid firewall that will not let the bass sound get across all that easily...)

uhh.. 300 is pretty low dude.. can't really do much... wires/box/amp/sub if you get a good deal should still be more than 300

you put alot of confidence into image dynamics huh? i have a idq12v2 under my bed that i plan on pairing up with us acoustics amps... planned on boston acoustics up front and undecided for the rear... do you think i should go all id? what do they sound like? price tag? which model would you recommend? (6.5s and 6x9s)

I wouldn't call it confidence really, it certainly isn't blind loyalty...it's more that they have a good track record with me. I didn't go out and say "I want my system to be from one manufacturer" I would NEVER recommend that to anyone. There are only a small handfull of companies that can fill most categories with a good product, let alone all of them. If you are doing a horn car, ID does do lots of things VERY well.

I used to be a strict JL Audio guy for subs. A few years without a system went by, then I got a new car, found sounddomain.com (late 2000) and I read about ID making a comeback. I had remembered their original IDQ's. My local JL dealer was also a ID dealer. I had my amp installed, went to the store, popped both an IDQ12 and a 12W3 in my trunk and did some a/b testing. The IDQ slaughtered the W3 in every way IMO.

I never looked back....I started with the IDQV2, then I had some chameleons for a short time, and I sold all my gear.

Then when the time for a redesign came around, I wanted horns, then I naturally went with CX mids. The IDMAX had just debuted as well, so I picked one up. I had all Phoenix Gold processing (EQ 232 and an MX3i) but I heard all the rave reviews about the ID processors, and how they are some of the best (if not the best) analog gear out there. At the same time, I found a good deal on all four, so I picked them up. I also just collected a set of IDQ8DVC's (they are discontinued).

Personally, I love the sound of the chameleons. You won't find a 6x9 though. The Chameleons come in 5.25 and 6.5 (more like 7") sizes. The CTX co-ax's range from 4" to 6.5".

Go, find your nearest id dealer and decide if it's what you want. I sorta fell into them. I had remembered way back in the day Car Sound doing a horn install with kicks and back when I was 16 I said "One day I will have horns and kicks and it will rock!!" Well, 8 years later, I have them.

Let your ears decide, that's the bottom line.

i have not yet entered the classification of audiophile, but the more i learn - listen to, i'm heading in that direction. but there's an insane amount that i do not know. i don't have an ID dealer around me, i was only attracted by the idqv2 after hearing it in my friend's accord. i have some questions that aptly fit under the 'noob' heading...

what's a 'horn' car?
- i assume it's talking bout the kind of sound that it produces? can you expound on this for me?
HLCD
- can you explain that concept for me?
what can you tell me about the ID component set? is there some sort of installation that makes it different from another component set? what's the price tag? and where can i find a set?
in your opinion, what kinda sound difference/taste is it from other sets ie: BA.

im trying to go for alot of quality sound - if i go the route of ID component sets would it be ok to leave the 6x9s or should they be replaced? i had also planned on 4 channel for indoor but others have suggested 2 channels dedicated to the components and leave the 6x9s to be powered by deck.

where can i find component sets online? i bought my Qv2 off of ebay...

i'm very interested in your opinion. lemme know.
