Default New to Hondas- NEED alot of advice

Hello, I have been looking to do an engine swap into a 1996-2000 civic coupe or hatch and I would like some feedback on some ideas I had. I have literally no experience at all and would appreciate a few pointers.

I talked to a friend of mine and he told me about a really easy and cheap swap to put into a civic. It was a b16 but there are obviously different kinds of engines. My main question is, is there a swap I could do for around 2 to 3 grand and what would i need to do.

Like I said I have no experience when it comes to Hondas so if I could get some help I'd really appreciate it.

That's a really broad question, and the search box is really good for answering such questions.

For 2-3 grand there aren't many Honda engines you aren't going to be able to get, except for K series or H series. Anything B series, you should be able to get an engine, tranny, ecu, and wiring harness for 1500-2500. D series or J series, same deal, but cheaper. Look around Craigslist, and go to some junkyards.
