Default reoccuring pinging

im hearing a slight pinging when the engine is under stress kicking in around 4500 rpm, and also sometimes the car will seriously bog if i dont rev the engine a few times before i release the clutch. what;s the prob??? so far, people have told me fuel pressure, distributer, timing, fuel mixture...what does this prob sound most like???

how old is ur car, have u cleaned ur injectors lately, do u do regular maintance, ie plugs, plugwires, do u have a decent air filter? my car used to bog when i started acceleration from a stop, especially if i floored it found out that it was mostly just crappy nasty injectors, sticky valves, and worn out oil. with regular maintance u should fix them problems if not ur engine might be having some issues, is it predetonating? bogging all the time or only during heavy acceleration, are ur tires the same size that they are supposed to be? or are they larger

car has about 83k miles on it...i change the oil every 3k miles, the plugs and all that were changed about 60k miles (the last regular maintanance...it's a 5 speed 97 civic ec coupe...i use injector cleaner every now and then...i have 16" rotas on it...that's not the prob...i have an aem air filter for a shortram intake...i think my motor just has issues, and am trying to diagnose the prob before it goes out again (it wouldnt start last year having the same symtoms). last year the distributer went out, the engine flooded with gasoline, and the plugs wouldn't ignite. it only bogs just after i start the car, and push down just a little. it wont take off, and feels and sounds like its gonna stall.

well i don't know how much money ur looking to put into it with a 97 engine it definitely shouldnt be dying that early, honda builds pretty reliable engines even if u mistreat them. i would say completely remove ur injectors and check them, u might have sticking valves also, if u havent already do a whole tuneup on ur electrical system, if ur getting any smoke from the back of ur exhaust let me know, u might not be burning all the fuel with an electrical issue, that is causing ur problem with running rich from the left over unburnt fuel

okay....im going to replace my clutch. someone told me that it might be the that im hearing. i need ot get a new one anyways (80k miles on the original). ill see if that helps. one very key clue is that when i first start my car, it's quite, because im holding down the clutch. if i put the car in neutral and let go of the cluth, it starts to make a rubing sound. i hope this works. if not, new head.
