Tach on a VX cluster
is it possible to just get aftermarket cluster face like for an ex and put it onto a VX Tach or will it not work? The reasing being is that the red line on the VX is 6k-8k where as the EX is 7.2k-9k. thanks

i believe the numbers on the gauage are the same, just the redline is moved. you should shift for your engin, not the redline anyway, but if it bothers you, then get an aftermarket faceplate for the junkyard cluster.
i changed my cluster out with the correct mileage in well under an hour...but it was an LX cluster into a DX so i think the lines are where they should be.

the problem is that i have to find another EX or LX cluster to swap it out with. My freind was talking about buying. If that coudl work then i would tell him. Thanks
Do what? I thought you just put that EX cluster in your car?
That aside, look at the gauges. If the 1k, 2k, 3k, and 4k lines are at the same place, you can probably use new faces to hide the fact that one is a VX cluster and still be properly calibrated. If the numbers are in different places around the arc of needle movement, you're outta luck.

...my guess is they are all the same k marks with different red lines.
