Default catalytic converter ?????????????

I installed a race converter on my 2000 civic si and the check engine light has been on ever since. Is this hurting my engine or what? Any help will be appreciated.

I dunno why that would happen. Maybe when you installed it you accidentally unplugged the 02 sensor wire or something like that, and didn't plug it back in? Anyway, I'm sure your cat isn't hurting anything.

If your cat is bolted onto the car, its cleaning your emisions, regardless of what your o2 sensor thinks. The cat works independently from its accompanying electronics. And what I was saying is that it isn't hurting his car. Only problem with having the check engine light on all the time, is that you cant tell when there's something else wrong. But 90% of the time a honda's check engine light is on, its the o2 sensor being a turd.
