Just curious although I doubt anyone here has tried this.

What I mean is no bank involved in your life, no credit cards just cash and carry transactions. Paying all your bills in person on site etc.

Wondering if anyone has tried this and how it worked out for you.

I always carry money on me lately because I get paid in cash on the daily. I still use debit/credit but most of the time I'm using cash.

It's weird but since I actually see the cash I'm spending it makes me more money conscious versus just swiping a card and worrying about later.

If that make any sense. Never been without a bank though.

Yeah that's kind of the thought and what I have been doing as well. I was just thinking of taking it one step further and ditching the bank altogether.

it's really not possible these days considering there are many places that just downright require some sort of plastic...hotels and car rentals are two i can think of.

wish you could go on cash alone though ... the only thing i have that i actually owe against a bank is my house. no credit cards

It's humbling to live by cash and ditch the bank. I did it for a year after I got divorced. o:

I havent since I was 18. Aside from my home loan, I can probably live on cash alone. But why...:dunno: Banks are convenient.

I do the exact opposite.

I NEVER have cash. I found that I spend more carrying cash.

I run all of my purchases through Quicken, so I know exactly where everything is at. Plus, I get decent cash rewards (got ~$600 back last year).
