'95-97 EX coupe, does this have VTEC?
When did they start putting in the VTEC engine in the EX model? was it in for '95-'97
Edmunds shows a redline at 6,600 RPM, I thought it was at 7K?

with the 92-95 civic you could choose between two engines. A vtec and a nonvtec. So Look for the word VTEC on hte valve cover and look for the vtec solonoid behind hte top left of the valve cover.
I'm not too familiar with hondas. I understand the concepts behind the Vtec and how the engine works, just wasn't sure when they started using the technology.
It's kinda funny, because Honda has been using this technology successfully for a good while now, but other manufacturers are just now starting to catch on. heh.
Anyways, thanks again.

There were some years (I forgot which) where the VTEC engines did not have VTEC written on the valve cover. One way to check is, the 92-95 SOHC VTEC engines had the oilcap on the upper right hand side (if looking from front of car) and the non VTEC engines had the oilcap on the lower left hand side. Or you could look for the VTEC solenoids
