Default D16Y8 vs. Y7

I'm looking to build up a D16 (both cuz D16 parts are cheap, and cuz it'd be cool to have a fast SOHC ). My questions are ..

Is there any difference between the Y7 and Y8 BLOCKS themselves?

I know the pistons and probably rods are different .. but I'd be getting custom stuff anyway. I just need to know whether the Y8 block is any better than the Y7? Thx.

I'm not sure weather the blocks are different internally, but I do know that the Y8 has a larger oil pan ( about .6 more quarts) to accomidate for vtec. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Thanks .. that's actually good info. I didn't know that .. I'll be sure to use a Y8 pan, then.

I'm just wondering if the Y8 block is any stronger structurally, as I plan to use either a pretty high CR, or go F/I.
